At Axia, we value our relationship with you. There are times when we may need information from you for the purposes of conducting business. We have adopted this policy to reflect our privacy commitment to you. The terms “Axia”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Axia FibreNet, A Bell Canada company, and its affiliates and subsidiaries.
We will let you know, at the point of collection, before we collect information from you and if you choose to give us personal information for the purposes of conducting business we will also let you know how we will use such information. If you tell us that you do not wish to have this information used as a basis for further contact with you, we will respect your wishes. We do keep track of the domains from which people visit us and we analyse this data for trends and statistics, and then we discard it.
Personal Information
Personal information means any information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.
Consent
By providing personal information to us or by retaining us to provide you with goods and services, you voluntarily consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information as described in this policy. Without limiting the foregoing, we may on occasion ask you to consent when we collect, use, or disclose your personal information in specific circumstances, in which case we may ask for your consent in writing although in some circumstances we may accept your oral consent. Sometimes your consent will be implied through your conduct with us if the purpose of the collection, use or disclosure is obvious and you voluntarily provide the information. In addition, we may collect, use and disclose personal information without your consent when we are required or permitted by law to do so.
How We Use Information Collected
Axia collects and uses personal information for several general purposes:

- to develop and provide products and services;
- to inform you of products and services;
- to manage our business operations;
- to assemble statistics concerning the use of Axia services;
- to allow for account billing and to maintain payment records;

Withdrawal of Consent
Individuals have the right to withdraw their consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information at any time, except where that withdrawal would frustrate the performance of a legal obligation by Axia. Upon reasonable written notice given to Axia, personal information held by Axia that is identifiable to that individual will be removed from our records and a notice of the impact of that removal will be provided to the individual. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if you withdraw consent Axia nonetheless reserves the right to retain, collect, use and disclose personal information without your consent where we are permitted by law to do so.
Opting Out
You may wish to opt out of receiving certain information and marketing or promotional materials from Axia. You may do so by contacting us at the addresses at the end of this policy.
Information Sharing & Disclosure
Because Axia is an international company, your personal information may be shared with other Axia offices or subsidiaries around the world. All such entities are governed by this policy and are bound by the appropriate confidentiality and data transfer agreements.
Your personal information is not shared outside of Axia without your permission except under certain conditions explained below. Inside Axia, data is stored in controlled servers with limited access. Your information may be processed in Canada or any other country where Axia, its subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, service providers, or agents are located. Your personal information may be subject to disclosure under the laws of those jurisdictions and it may be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities of those jurisdictions. Axia may send your personal information to other companies or people under any of the following conditions:
- when we have your consent to share the information (including as given as described in this policy);
- when we need to share the information to provide the product or service that you have requested;
- when we need to send the information to companies that work on behalf of Axia to provide a service to you;
- when we engage a third party to provide services to us (such as marketing, IT or storage services) and the third party is bound by contractual arrangements to protect personal information transferred to it;
- subject to applicable laws, to credit reporting agencies;
- when we want to keep you up to date on the latest product announcements, software updates, special offers or other information that we think you'd like to receive from us or from our business partners (subject to applicable laws and unless you have opted out of these types of communications).
We will also disclose your personal information if permitted or required to do so by law, to enforce our user agreements or other contracts, or in urgent circumstances to protect personal safety, the public or our property.
Note that in the event that Axia discloses your personal information it will only be to the extent required to deliver the service or product or to fulfil the request or the purpose of disclosure. Except for disclosures to law enforcement agencies or where we are otherwise required by law to disclose personal information, we will use reasonable contractual arrangements to ensure third parties to whom we disclose personal information (such as our service providers) are prohibited from using the information for any other purpose.
Summarized Data
We may also use your personal information to generate generalized, anonymous data which has been stripped of information identifying individuals (“summarized data”) for our internal use and in certain circumstances for sharing with third parties with whom we do business or run programs. Summarized Data will be used for statistical, informational, marketing and planning purposes. Your identity and personal information will be kept anonymous in summarized data.
Websites, Cookies & Tracking Technology
In general, you can visit our websites without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. We do keep track of the domains from which people visit us and we analyse this data for trends and statistics, and then we discard it.
"Cookies" can be used to provide you with tailored information from a website. A cookie is an element of data that a website can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system. Cookies do not read data off your hard disk and can only contain personal information that you provide yourself. Axia uses cookies to track user traffic patterns in order to determine the usefulness of our websites to our users. If you prefer not to receive cookies while browsing our web sites, you may set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies allowing you the choice to either refuse or accept it. Refusing cookies may not allow for the full functionality or use of Axia's websites.
Retention of Information
Axia will retain personal information only for as long as is necessary to conduct business or as legally permitted or required. Information that has been archived for business continuity and disaster recovery purposes will not be purged other than through the normal course of backup and archival procedures.
Data Security
Axia safeguards the data you send us with commercially reasonable physical, electronic and managerial processes and procedures including backups and data archival for business continuity. In certain cases, Axia also uses encryption mechanisms to enhance the security of data and data transmission.
Third Party Sites
Axia websites contain links to other sites. Axia is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.
Privacy and Minors
It is possible that children may post information about themselves or communicate with us when using the interactive areas of our websites, or social media pages or miscrosites, or otherwise. However, only individuals of legal age of majority or authorized guardians may purchase Axia’s products or services. Axia does not target for marketing and does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under the age of 16, nor do we send them requests for personal information, without their authorized guardians' permission.
Changes to Privacy Policy
Axia will amend this policy from time to time and, if we make substantial changes to how we use your personal information, we will make that information available by posting notice on this site.
