Community Interconnect Grid Update
At Axia, we are committed to delivering best-in-class services that are consistent, secure, and reliable.
Over the past two years, we’ve continued to fortify that focus by investing nearly $25 million in our Community Interconnect Grid (CIG) – a fibre grid connecting multiple communities in one region to at least one global gateway.
This project will replace old circuits with new Axia circuits; design and construct a dense wave division multiplexing optical core; and expand our network MPLS footprint.
The successful completion of this work in December 2016 will deliver three important outcomes for our customers:
- Elimination of old bottlenecks in the legacy network
- Increased link capacity from 2.5 Gbps to 10 Gbps
- Increased core MPLS capacity from 195 Gbps to 450 Gbps.
The CIG project ensures you remain connected to Alberta’s leading high-speed, high-performance network infrastructure. And it’s just one of several projects we’ve got on the go.
